The Friends of Coal held a welcoming reception and dinner at the Pullman Place Hotel in Huntington on Friday night which was well attended by University officials of WVCA members.  Spokesman Bob Pruett hosted a “desert and dancing” function afterwards. On Saturday morning, Friends of Coal were set up in Marshall’s “tent city” for a tailgate/brunch party just prior to the game.  The stadium was adorned with four huge Friends of Coal Bowl banners, highly visible to the national television audience.  The U.S. Army’s elite parachute team, the Golden Knights jumped into the stadium with a Friends of Coal Bowl flag and the official game ball.

Andrew Jordon, Ben Statler and Chris Hamilton were joined on the field by Don Nehlen, Bob Pruett and two special Olympians for the pre-game coin toss and again after the game
for the presentation of the Friends of Coal Bowl trophy.  Coverage of all events was extensive. All in all, a very successful weekend.
