MANCHIN MEETS WITH WESTERN COAL STATE GOVERNORS

Last week, Governor Joe Manchin met with Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal, Utah Governor Jon Huntsman and Colorado Governor Bill Ritter in Cheyenne, Wyoming to discuss ways to strengthen coal’s role in the nation’s energy policy and programs.  According to a 9/14 Associated Press story, coal was the main topic of the day as Governor Manchin said “It’s (coal) going to be here.  It’s needed.  It has to be part of the equation.”  The governors pledged future meetings to insure the rhetoric in Washington is connected to the reality needed in the states.
