Friends of Coal spokesman Jeremy Starks, a professional angler who competes on the nationwide ESPN Elite Series tour, met recently with West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, Department of Environmental Protection Cabinet Secretary Stephanie Timmermeyer and Division of Natural Resources Director Frank Jezioro. The group discussed several topics that are pertinent to the coal industry, such as effective usage of reclaimed mine land and the promotion of clean water
Friends of Coal spokesman Jeremy Starks, a professional angler who
competes on the nationwide ESPN Elite Series tour, met recently with
West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin, Department of Environmental
Protection Cabinet Secretary Stephanie Timmermeyer and Division of
Natural Resources Director Frank Jezioro. The group discussed several
topics that are pertinent to the coal industry, such as effective usage
of reclaimed mine land and the promotion of clean water. Jeremy will
be working with Timmermeyer and Jezioro to help promote the state’s
Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP).
The Ladies Auxiliary is holding a food drive and has taken a truck load
of canned goods to the Salvation Army. They were on Channel 6, Channel
4 and Channel 59 along with an article and pictures in the Beckley
newspaper. They have lots of things in the planning stage – check their

CONSOL Energy’s CNX Gas Senior Vice Presidents Randy Albert and Mike
Onifer will present the Friends of Coal trophies and plaques at the
West Virginia State Football Class AA Championship game on Friday
evening at Wheeling Island Stadium in Wheeling, WV. Randy is also an
assistant coach with the Bluefield Beavers who are playing James Monroe
High School in the title match. On Saturday afternoon, Laura Pauley
(Riverton Coal Production) and her husband Mark will be joined by Sonja
Lawson (Sandi Davison’s daughter) and her husband Jamie to present the
trophies and plaques to the Class AAA champions and runners-up. The
Class AAA game will feature St. Albans High School playing Parkersburg
High. Friends of Coal everywhere are appreciative of these great
representatives taking the time to help bring positive attention to the
industry’s involvement with the youth of West Virginia.
