To begin the annual Association tradition of presenting Friends of Coal
plaques to all students who are part of every state championship and
runner-up team in the State, Pritchard Mining's Rocky Hackworth will be
present for the high school tennis tournament this weekend in
Charleston. Rocky will be accompanied by his wife, Janie, of Walker
Machinery as they follow the play of their daughter, Alyssa, who plays
for George Washington High School's tennis team. The State Championship
matches began on Thursday and will finish up on Saturday.

On May 21-22, the girls’ State Championship Softball tournament will be held in Vienna, West Virginia. We would love to have a member with a daughter playing in the tournament to assist the -Secondary Schools Activity Commission (SSAC) in presenting the plaques to the championship and runner-up teams. Please let us know if you are interested or know of someone from the industry who will be attending the tournament.
In addition, the State Championship track meet will be held in Charleston on May 16-17 at University of Charleston Stadium (Laidley Field). The following weekend, May 29-31, the boys' State Championship baseball tournament will be held at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston. Please let us know if you will be attending either or both of these tournaments.
