Washington, DC August 16, 2011

The 1260-seat Theatre West Virginia welcomes 'Rocket Boys The Musical' for a huge and highly-anticipated run August 26 thru September 4, 2011!

West Virginia's original "rocket boy" son and best-selling author Homer Hickam returns to his home state with the musical's creative team for a full-scale production. Homer Hickam and the Broadway veterans will actively participate in the opening Weekend.

Based on the New York Times #1 bestselling memoir 'Rocket Boys' by Homer Hickam, the movie 'October Sky' was a blockbuster hit on the silver screen, capturing the imagination of international audiences.

Now the beloved story, one of the most read by high school and middle school students in the USA for the past decade, is taking flight as 'Rocket Boys The Musical.'

The Broadway bound production has already won the NY ASCAP/ Disney Musical Theatre workshop, with two-time consecutive ASCAP/Disney Musical Theater award winners composing the soundtrack. The plays' table read in New York City assembled a full Broadway cast and garnered media attention as well as investor interest from the theater world, fueling heavy speculation that the production will soon be moving to Broadway.

A complete production of 'Rocket Boys The Musical' will be staged by Theatre West Virginia at their 1260 seat Cliff-side Amphitheater August 26th-September 4th, and will star Broadway and TV/film veteran Carl Anthony Tramon (Fame The Musical, Peter Pan, Saturday Night Live, Saved By The Bell) as the young Homer "Sonny" Hickam.
