The West Virginia Coal Association and Friends of Coal web presence continues to expand. According to the latest reports, the Association website (www.wvcoal.com) saw 6,401 visits for the month of February, with 15,485 page views. Visitors to the site included people from 112 countries and approximately 74 percent were new visitors.
Meanwhile, the Friends of Coal website (www.friendsofcoal.org) saw 3,252 visits with 7,793 page views. This included visitors from 54 countries with approximately 79 percent being first-time visitors.
In addition, work has begun on the addition of a new “careers and training” section on the West Virginia Coal Association site, providing information and links for both current job seekers and for those looking for additional training to prepare for their career in coal mining. We expect the site to be fully operational within the next month.
Our social media presence continued to expand as well. The Friends of Coal-West Virginia Facebook fan page is inching toward 1,200 “fans” and the “Coal Friend” regular Facebook site continues to build toward 3,000 “friends.” We are doing this without supporting advertising pre-official launches of the pages. We expect to “officially” launch them with e-mail blasts to the Friends of Coal and membership databases in the near future.
Links were also established with the Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary Facebook page, which has channeled a significant number of new visitors to that site as well.
