After years of work and devotion, the Friends of Coal Soccer Complex at Trace Fork, located next to the South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena and adjacent to the Target store in the Southridge shopping area, along Corridor G south of Charleston, is ready for official dedication on Sunday. I hope many members of the Association and lots of Friends of Coal will attend the afternoon ceremony to commemorate the extensive work done by our members in bringing this dream to reality.
From the very beginning, more than ten years ago, our members stepped up to provide the “heavy lifting” to make sure this vision became a magnificent asset to the Kanawha County area. Initially, Ralph Ballard (Asset Management Group) marshaled equipment, operators and support for the extensive earth moving and grading work that had to be done to complete the tremendous complex of grass fields. The second dimension of this complex was then undertaken with Andrew Jordon (Pritchard Mining) and his people in the development of the turf field. Had it not been for Ralph and Andrew and the tremendous support provided by Petroleum Products/Maxum, Rish Equipment, Rudd Equipment and Walker Machinery, the construction of this wonderful complex would never had been possible. So, please come out and join us on Sunday afternoon to help give proper attention to these member companies and their contribution to the Kanawha Valley through the Friends of Coal.
Please call if you have any questions or need more information, Bill’s cell is 304-545-8226. Hope to see you on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. for dedication. UC Women vs. WV Wesleyan Women will play at 1 p.m. and the UC Men vs. WV Wesleyan Men will play at 3:30 p.m.
