CHARLESTON – At no time in our history has strong, effective proven leadership been more important than today. West Virginia is truly lucky to have one of the strongest and most effective leadership teams in the nation – “West Virginia's Team” of Sen. Joe Manchin and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.
West Virginians for Coal, the Coal Association’s political action committee, is proud to endorse Sen. Manchin for a full term as our U.S. Senator and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin for a full term as our governor.
Manchin and Tomblin have worked together over the past decade to build a strong economic foundation for our state – a foundation that has weathered the worst recession our nation has experienced in nearly a century. Their strong, financially responsible, common-sense, aggressive leadership has carried us through our nation's financial crisis.
And they have always been strong supporters of our state’s primary industry – coal. While the rest of the world is depending on coal to build their economies, our industry and our people have never faced a more challenging time, most of which was created by the Obama Administration’s overreaching, unrealistic and arrogant policies.
Manchin and Tomblin have stood by our state's coal mining families as we fought to protect our jobs from the onslaught of the Obama War on Coal – taking on their own party's national leadership to do so. They have been with us at rallies, at permit hearings, at congressional hearings and taken our message to the halls of Washington and to the White House itself. They have been there with us every single step of the way.
Manchin and Tomblin have initiated, carried through and won suits against the Obama EPA, whose policies have bullied our state and pushed production costs much higher than they should be, destroying thousands of jobs in the process.
With the difficult times that appear to be unfolding; we believe we need a tried and proven leadership team – West Virginia's team – Sen. Joe Manchin and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. They are the right team to lead this state through the uncertainty that lies ahead.
