The national tour bus for the “American Products, American Power” group rolled into Charleston last week on the latest leg of its tour across the country to raise awareness of the importance of America’s energy and manufacturing sectors to our economy.
The group visited the West Virginia Coal Association offices in Northgate Business Park, discussing the issues and filming an interview segment with WVCA President Bill Raney. Association staff signed the bus, joining the tens of thousands of others who have done so to show their support not only for our industry, but our nation’s industrial core, which faces similar threats from federal regulatory overreach. The bus will be delivered to Congress as a large petition supporting coal as the fuel of choice for America.
After visiting with the WVCA office, Raney took the group to Pritchard Mining’s Four-Mile Surface Mine near Charleston. The group was shown the operation and saw, first-hand, the importance our mining industry places on being good stewards of our resources and our land. They also learned about the primary and vital role the industry plays in the economy of this region and the damage being done to our economy by the Obama Administration’s War on Coal. All of the workers at Pritchard also signed the bus. The day before, the group traveled to Sharples and met with the ladies of the Community Action Panel, as well as Roger Horton of the Citizens for Coal and Dennis Atkins for the Friends and Families for Coal
