West Virginia Coal Association & Friends of Coal Partner with Hillman Racing

CONCORD, N.C. – Hillman Racing today announced that the West Virginia Coal Association and the Friends of Coal organization will be the primary marketing partners on the No. 27 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entry driven by Team 7 Motorsports driver Jeff Agnew at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Friday night’s N.C. Education Lottery 200.

Located in Charleston, W.Va., the West Virginia Coal Association is a trade association representing more than 90 percent of the state's underground and surface coal mine production.  Its purpose is to have a unified voice representing the state's coal industry as well as increase emphasis on coal as a reliable energy source to help the nation achieve energy independence.

“We’re proud to be associated with Hillman Racing, Jeff Agnew and Team 7 Motorsports,” stated Bill Raney, president of the West Virginia Coal Association.  “We’ve followed Jeff’s racing career over the past 10 years, and we’re really looking forward to being a part of the next step of his NASCAR career in the Camping World Truck Series.  West Virginians are big NASCAR fans and they’ll have a driver and truck to cheer for this Friday with the No. 27.  The race truck is powered by gas, but as far as we’re concerned it’s driven by coal.”

Agnew, a native of Floyd, Va., will make his fifth start of the season on Friday and has 18 total truck series starts to his credit.  Currently 22nd in the driver point standings, Agnew will make his first career start at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the N.C. Education Lottery 200.

“This is a big weekend for us,” Agnew said.  “In addition to the West Virginia Coal Association and Friends of Coal, we spent all day Monday testing at Kentucky Speedway in preparation for Friday’s race under the lights.  We’ve had a run of bad luck at the start of the season and decided to change my familiar orange-and-black paint scheme to all black in support of the coal industry.  We’ve got an extra day of practice at Charlotte on Thursday, so between that and the test at Kentucky, I feel confident that we’ll turn our season around.”

The N.C. Education Lottery 200 from Charlotte Motor Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Friday night.  SPEED and MRN Radio will both begin live broadcasts at 7:30 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 17.  SPEED will also broadcast qualifying live on Friday at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
