The State Journal: Saturday, October 18, 2008/BEAVER-- A whole new batch of miners are ready for the workforce.
Friday 18 men and women celebrated their graduation at the UMWA Career Center. These miners spent the last 9 weeks completing their miners training classes.
It was an extended safety program that took 360 hours. The normal mine training is 80 hours.
Miners say the extra time will pay off underground.
The graduates will now be able to apply for any mining job in the state. Friends and family members shared the commencement ceremony and reception following, with Friday's graduates.
