Op-Ed Piece Appearing Around State

Embracing New Direction

To The Editor:

There is a refreshing change moving through our wonderful state, from the panhandles to the southern coalfields and everywhere in between.  Last week’s election has left us with real optimism and a true sense of Mountaineer Spirit.

At the West Virginia Business & Industry Council, where representatives from 26 different industries work on issues to move West Virginia forward, and all across the state, we have high hopes and even higher expectations for those who will be leading West Virginia starting in January.

We have good reason to be filled with high expectations.  Our newly elected state representatives are among the most competent and qualified we ever have seen.  Their sincerity and determination should serve every West Virginian well over the coming years.

This year’s election was historic in a number of ways and presents our great state with a fresh start and a new beginning.  We ask that all West Virginians band together in support of this new direction.

Election Day was the start of this journey, but transforming West Virginia will not happen overnight. We need the electorate to remain engaged and part of the team as we collectively guide West Virginia on a path of economic growth.

To the members of the 82nd West Virginia Legislature, we thank you for your willingness to serve. The West Virginia Business & Industry Council wishes you the best of luck and offers our unconditional support and collective resources. Together, we can and will move West Virginia forward.
