WHAT IS THE VALUE OF THE WEST VIRGINIA COAL INDUSTRY

The Association is finalizing the comprehensive parameters that will be used by  West Virginia  University and  Marshall  University in the “Economic Impact of Coal in the  West Virginia Economy 2008” study.  The two universities are combining to insure the thorough inclusion of as many influential impacts of our industry on our State as possible.  Professors Tom Witt (WVU) and Cal Kent ( Marshall ) are making every effort to include historical data and statistics from other relevant studies to have the project completed by our Annual Meeting in August.  We are also hopeful the completed project will be presented at the 2009 Business Summit at the end of August.  This study will serve as the factual foundation for policy initiatives as well as our public relations program, emphasizing the critical importance of your operations and assets to the well-being of  West Virginia ’s economy and its people.
