United States Patent: 3790467
The enclosed US Patent isn't all that informative or revelatory, as regards the very real technologies that exist to transform our abundant Coal into the liquid transportation fuels we need.
We submit it only as another item of evidence demonstrating that the knowledge exists, and has existed in the community of United States petroleum companies for many decades, which would enable us to convert our abundant domestic Coal, cleanly and efficiently, into those needed liquid hydrocarbon fuels.
The technology disclosed herein, as with some others we've reported, deals not with manufacturing hydrocarbon liquids from Coal, it being a given that we can do so; but, with the further cleaning and refining such Coal liquids, once they are manufactured, so that they can better serve as direct replacements for oil refinery feed stock; and, by extension, as direct replacements for the liquid fuels required by our current transportation fleet and transportation fuel supply infrastructure.
Comment follows brief excerpts from:
"US Patent 3,790,467 - Coal Liquefaction Solids Removal
Date: February, 1974
Inventor: Robert Fiocco, et. al.
Assignee: Esso Research and Engineering Company
Abstract: Solid residues are more efficiently separated from a coal liquefaction product, in a solids-liquids separation zone in which solids size is a separation parameter, by adding to the coal liquefaction product a coal extract liquid derived from the coal liquefaction product and containing at least 20 volume percent of materials boiling below about 400 F or at least 20 volume percent of materials boiling above about 1000 F."
----------
Like a number of Coal liquefaction technology reports we've submitted, this 1974 patent demonstrates that, not only do the means exist for us to transform our Coal into liquid fuels, and to thereby free us from OPEC economic bondage and shotgun foreign policy marriages; but, that those means are well-understood and highly-evolved. Moreover, they have been so highly-evolved for the more than the three decades our domestic and foreign economic and diplomatic policies have been shaped around our reliance on alien supplies of oil.
Far past time the fact of such Coal Liquefaction Evolution was publicly taught, don't you think?
