WVCA Release: President Obama Killing Jobs in WV, America with New Power Plant Emission Rules

CHARLESTON – West Virginia Coal Association has issued the following statement in response to today’s EPA’s announcement of new GHG regulations for existing power plants. 

“Today’s announcement of new GHG regulations by President Obama’s EPA is just another slap in the face by an administration that has gone on record with the intent to shut down coal-fired power generation in this country. Though expected, this announcement is nonetheless disappointing in that it makes it clear that all the pleas of our people of the past six years have fallen on deaf ears.

EPA Existing Source Emissions Rule Puts American Jobs at Risk, Does Nothing to Address Climate Change

Triangle, Va -- United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) International President Cecil E. Roberts issued the following statement today:

"The proposed rule issued today by the Environmental Protection Agency will lead to long-term and irreversible job losses for thousands of coal miners, electrical workers, utility workers, boilermakers, railroad workers and others without achieving any significant reduction of global greenhouse gas emissions.

WV Coal Festival Set to be Held June 17-21

MADISON - The 21st West Virginia Coal Festival is set for June 17 thru June 21 in downtown Madison.  This year’s event will feature top-notch entertainers, a parade, miner’s memorial service, mine equipment exhibits, fireworks, carnival, beauty pageant and many other events.
